Does Donald Trump have a perverted attraction to Ivanka? Details of a smear.

Summary: Having failed to convince a majority of America that Donald Trump is Hitler, a racist fascist, they turn to a vile smear — that he has perverted fantasies about his daughter, Ivanka. It’s typical of them to prefer smears rather than dealing with the vital issues that Trump has raised. Here are their accusations and the evidence they cite. You decide. See analysis of other smears of Trump in the For More Info section.

Trump and Ivanka

The polls show a virtual tie between Clinton and Trump is perhaps explained by the Democrats’ odd reluctance to debate Trump on his positions (here and here), especially globalization, mass immigration, and our foreign wars. Instead they devise memes that only a leftist can love. Trump is a racist (like all who disagree with them). He’s Hitler (ditto). He aspires to be Putin. And now, a new low even for the Left, they say he has a perverted sexual attraction to his daughter, Ivanka.

These accusations play well on the Left (as similar smears do on the Right). But will they change any minds? Decades of indiscriminate overuse by the Left have eroded away their force. I hope this doesn’t become another chapter in my “why the Left loses” series (see them listed below).

Is Trump a pervert?

Daily Kos was at the forefront of this story with their Jan 17 article: “Forget About ‘Socialist’. ‘Creepy’ & ‘Elitist’ Are Much Tougher Labels To Overcome.” by “mstoner” — “So, let look at two labels you could apply to our most likely general election opponent; Donald ‘Creepy’ & ‘Elitist’ Trump.” It’s the usual Daily Kos mish-mash. Here’s the basis for the allegations that Trump is a pervert with incestuous fantasies. First, on “The View” (6 March 2006) Trump said…

“I don’t think Ivanka would do that {pose for Playboy}, although she does have a very nice figure. I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”

Second, from “Trump Seriously: On the Trail With the GOP’s Tough Guy” by Paul Solotaroff in Rolling Stone (9 Sept 2015).

“After I met Ivanka and praised her to her father, he said, “Yeah, she’s really something, and what a beauty, that one. If I weren’t happily married and, ya know, her father…”

Alex Griswold at Mediaite wrote a similar screed on Sept 10, concluding with “Societal taboos aside, Trump’s “favorite book” The Bible isn’t exactly on board with incest.” But the “pervert Trump” meme failed to ignite after these, as the Left was busy with “Trump is Hitler” and “Trump is a racist” memes. But the polls show that both of these failed, so the Left’s swarm has returned to the “pervert” meme.

To see the Left in action I turn to the Lawyer, Guns, and Money website. Their social scientists provide some of the most interesting writing on the Left. Scott Lemieux (assoc. prof. of political science at the College of Saint Rose) ran the above picture as clickbait to his article “The Imaginary Progressive Donald Trump“. He makes no mention of the photo or the “pervert” allegations. But their fans rose to the bait, with 148 hysterical comments, mostly about the photo. Here are some typical ones.

“That photo. …the sports car makes it kind of weird too. And his face – that’s more of an ‘I have a hard on’ look than ‘I love my daughter’ look.”  “I’ve got a daughter. That picture really skeeves me out.”  “This photo makes me feel ill. ” “It has all the look of a strumpet and her sugar daddy.”  “I don’t have a daughter and that picture skeeves me out. She is in a super sexualized pose (you might think ‘childish innocence’ but she is like 14 in that picture and wearing stripper heels) and his body language is entirely “look what I have!” rather than fatherly love. “

To see the garbage in the American mind, turn to Twitter. There are thousands of tweets like this.

Will it this influence the election?

No. The Left’s claim to be moral arbiters died with Martin Luther King. This is just idle chatter, identical in many respects to chatter on the Right.

It’s sad that Left prefers to focus on the hysterical charges about Trump rather than his profound personal weaknesses or the vital issues political he has bought to the center ring. It’s why they lose so often, as America (and the Democratic Party) drifts to the Right in many ways (the 1% don’t care who sleeps with whom). Worse, these bogus attempts to deligitimize Trump coarsen our politics; they are sand in the gears of our electoral machinery.

Despite these follies by the Left, I predict that Clinton will crush Trump in November. But these self-marginalizing acts by the Left diminish their ability to use campaign 2016 as an opportunity to halt America’s slide to the Right. Instead we’ll elect Hillary, and get the TPP, a more powerful Wall Street, and more foreign wars.

This is offensive to America’s New Puritans

  1. I’m not here to comment on your article; I agree with it although I do find Trump’s relationship with Ivanka to be a bit weird but more in a “I created her and she is mine” than a sexual way.

I am more interested in the recent Republican vs. proposed Democrat conventions. The very little I saw of the RNC was highly entertaining in a WWF way, especially Cruz calling out Trump for dissing his wife and father. Substance was either not there at all or carefully hidden.

Hillary is vowing that the DNC will be an antithesis of the RNC with everything about substance and no weird surprises. That may well backfire on her.

The RNC gave us some very unusual speakers who articulated their viewpoint pretty well (especially Peter Thiel). Hillary could do some real damage to her cause if the DNC is all about the usual suspects coming together to agree on a platform mostly written to support the 1% with nothing noteworthy to report.

    1. Pluto,

Color me skeptical that the conventions have much impact. We’ll see if the polls show much change afterwards.

Given the large numbers of people who say they have made up their minds, the after-convention polls might predict the outcome quite well. That is, the next three months of bickering might make little difference.

Tomorrow’s post will say that Trump has blown his opportunity by abandoning the populist themes that brought him the nomination, instead going for a mixed bag of doomster nonsense.

  2. Somewhat OT, but IMHO perhaps little-known, albeit related …

On the Hillary front (and US PC frontings, so to speak), readers might be interested in Australian Tony Thomas’ recent exploration of the Clinton Foundation’s connection$ to Australia’s – considerably less than honourable – now former PM, Julia Gillard. See:

Cheque Mates: Gillard, Bishop & Hillary

Julia Gillard lavished an unprecedented $292 million in taxpayer dollars on the Clinton-dominated Global Partnership for Education, where she was later appointed chair. Imagine the howls if Tony Abbott had underwritten a Bush-backed charity and saw his career similarly prosper […]

Full disclosure: Thomas kindly credits my Of UN development finance progress, terrorism, taxes … & Julia Gillard with “inspiration” for his subsequent findings.

  3. Yeah, you failed. Try writing about how ‘we’ Democrats are worried about his policies–or lack there of, his wanting to use nukes and his infantile understanding of anything political. We talk about his failures, his bankruptcies, his thousands of lawsuits against him, one for sex trafficking, one for rape and one for a fraud university.

Tell me how ‘we’ aren’t doing our jobs. Tell us how ‘we’ are worried about his ties to Russia and Putin–who he seems to be in debt to.

We are seeing proof that it’s journalists like you and in mainstream media who has told nothing but sensational news, not informing the public of important factors in this election. Try reporting some facts.

    1. Heather,

      (1) Did you read this post? Apparently not. Let’s review the opening paragraph to see how your rant ignores what I wrote.

“The polls show a virtual tie between Clinton and Trump is perhaps explained by the Democrats’ odd reluctance to debate Trump on his positions (here and here), especially globalization, mass immigration, and our foreign wars. (2) I’ve written 72 articles about Campaign 2016. All deal with important issues, and rest on a hard foundation of facts.

      (3) “Tell me how ‘we’ aren’t doing our jobs.”

No need to do so. Your comment demonstrates that better than I ever could.

  4. You just can’t explain away the sexually overtoned photos of Trump with his daughter, and his comments about dating her if she wasn’t his daughter. You. Just. Can’t.

    1. Larry Kummer, Editor

      Caston,

Can you state that with some kind of logic or facts, rather than as the usual partisan cant?

  5. He is definitely a pedophile, and I believe also engages in an incestuous relationship with Ivanka. I wish she would find the courage to speak out about her childhood abuse and the incest that happened. Tabloid the making of Ivanka Trump really details his relationship with his own mother, as well as his grooming of Ivanka into his perfect woman. The things she endures and goes through to get attention and approval from her father for anything other than her body is so sad. I can’t wait until 2020 when he will no longer be playing President and can be indicted for all of his crimes. Fingers crossed he gets impeached before that🙏🙏🙏

  6. Thank you for explaining EXACTLY why he’s a pervert and showing us how many people justify his actions based on his income. As a Republican, this makes me sick
