The University of Florida’s newsletter, the Gator Times, advise students about ways to survive the perils of Halloween. Many schools have given similar advice, although not always with such a heavy hand. Florida’s special snowflakes have a wide range of therapeutic options for the trauma of a children’s holiday, including the pleasure of siccing the PC police on one’s enemies. George Orwell would be pleased at the accuracy of his predictions.
Halloween Costume Choices
“October brings fall weather and Halloween. If you choose to participate in Halloween activities, we encourage you to think about your choices of costumes and themes. Some Halloween costumes reinforce stereotypes of particular races, genders, cultures, or religions. Regardless of intent, these costumes can perpetuate negative stereotypes, causing harm and offense to groups of people.

Samuel Adams would rejoice at the opportunity created by this irrational over-reaching of the Left. Let’s do it, and enjoy it. Let’s get millions to mock the Left’s orders to us about allowed costumes for Halloween. It’s an opportunity to stand together in a small way, a first step towards doing so on larger matters.

Let the Leftists call the police to protest PC violations. Let them flood the 9-11 lines with whines about their fragile egos being trampled. The resulting publicity will be sunshine on their plans for America, a useful warning before we begin the Hillary Clinton years.

Hyperventilators of the world unite! Building this stuff up, as if we are facing the PC gestapo is a little hysteric, don’tcha’think? I remember stuff like this happening occasionally while I was in university (I remember we got lectured on using the word ‘rape’ in the context of ‘I totally raped that exam’). The best reaction to this seemed to be humor (‘I totally had consensual sex with that exam’) and recognizing that this kind of thing has very little real power to impact your personal and social life. Most of this stuff was ridiculed and dismissed, and didn’t really change how students behaved. The few ‘activists’ I knew seemed to be doing it as another activity they could put on their Ivy League Law School Application. Though I don’t know what happened to any of them, I can’t imagine them running around in PC death squads right now.

Time will tell which of us is correct. Still, you appear to have your eyes tightly closed.
(1) The “nothing new” defense is daft. Magnitudes matter. There are always a few cases of bubonic plague. So are thousands dying nothing new?
(2) A generation ago there were not Federal directives on these matters, pushing universities to action. Also, many or most colleges now have administrative machinery devoted to prosecuting these cases — with the media urging them on.
I could continue, but there is little point to repeating what’s in the daily news. But one part of your comment deserves special mention…

Nice use of the strawman! Make up some insane exaggeration, then say it’s false.
That’s called sarcasm, not a strawman Captain Logic. The attempt at gravitas, in a post urging undergrads to go out and party on Halloween in krazy kostumz, was roughly equivalent to solemnly telling the sun it shouldn’t fear setting behind the horizon.
Perhaps you should develop a sense of perspective. The priggish campus PC culture may be annoying and outspoken, but they’re hardly the powerful overlords Orwell dreamed of.
