The week’s riots in France show Europe’s future, and perhaps ours

Summary: The latest bout of migrants rioting in France show Europe’s future, and perhaps America’s. Millions of proud people will mold the West into a society more to their liking. Violence is a standard tools to do so, because it works.

Political action in France

After four days of riots, the latest wave of violence by immigrants has burnt itself out. To be followed by marches and increased political activism. The pattern is familiar to anyone in Europe who is paying attention. Underpaid and lightly trained police patrol poor areas with high rates of unemployment and crime. The use violence to control the residents, who respond with violence. Often accidents result, setting off bouts of more intense violence.

This the product of open borders in France, fruits of programs of Europe’s rulers to reshape its society. The Right sees migrants as tools to crush upstart workers with their high wages and extensive protections. The Left sees them as voters to defeat their political foes and crush their culture, the bourgeois (middle class) that they have passionately hated since WWII.

Both can win for a while, as the combined power of Left and Right allows them to ignore objections of the middle. The confused middle alternates between voting for the big centrist parties, baffled that little changes. In Germany the big center parties ally, eliminating any effective choice for voters.

Migrants coming into Europe

Both sides ignore the likely result. These immigrants are not pawns. They are proud people, albeit mostly undereducated and poor, from cultures with histories as long as Europe’s. Many are Muslim, with a history as glorious as that of the Christian West. The come from many nations. But inevitably if slowly they have recognized that they have more in common with each other than with their rich arrogant hosts, whose political leaders seek to use them. They feel their power as their numbers grow, especially as they see the spiritual weakness of Europe’s senescent society. They see themselves as the future.

Hence the age-old cycle: bouts of violence followed by mobilization, organization, and political activism. The Left and Right believe in multiculturalism. Neither asked the migrants about their opinion. Both will find that many migrants have beliefs about society and politics, and will force Europe to accept them.

Right-wing parties have begun to arise in opposition to the open borders. This will slow the evolutionary process. But Europe has probably passed the point of no return, beginning a journey to a new society whose outlines cannot yet be seen.

As usual, America lags behind Europe in this trend. But our Left and Right share the goals of Europe’s. In the 1970’s both began prying open our borders — relying on propaganda based mostly on lies. The results have been slow to appear, due to America’s ability to assimilate foreigners. But the numbers will eventually have the same effect as in Europe.

Immigration is the key political battle of our time, showing how elites on the Left and Right work against the middle. Populism has stronger roots in America than Europe, and the Right has partially wrestled control of immigration away from the GOP’s leaders. So the Left has doubled down, making open borders (suitably disguised) as their central issue. If that continues, the 2020 election will be one of the most important in US history. Most political policies are reversible. Mass migrant flows are not. They arrive here from failed states around the world, permanently.

News about the latest bout of migrants’ riots

There are some indications of small scale action by left and right activists helping the migrant rioters and police, respectively.

The next phase of the struggle to control America’s borders

“And soon, very soon – after the victory of our movement – we will defend all the migrants in the American continent and all the migrants in the world. {Mexicans should} leave their towns and find a life in the United States. …{That is} a human right we will defend.”

  1. Not to cast doubt on your thesis, I agree many predominantly immigrant suburbs in France are powder kegs, but there are many predominantly immigrant suburbs all over Europe ( or at least non white) where rioting does not occur. France has a long history of rioting, this seems to be part of its DNA. My guess is those are the result of lack of representation and integration among 2nd and 3th generation north African migrants who fled north africa with the retreat of the French empire.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_incidents_of_civil_unrest_in_France

Interestingly there seems to be a similar pattern in the UK. There was a wave of migration with the retreat empire from the Caribbean of black migrants, there children, brought up as English have found it difficult to integrate into main stream white society, this has manifested itself in periodic rioting, usually triggered by a incident with the police.

A counterpoint would be Germany where millions of Turks settled in the 50’s and 60’s, but it did not result in the same level of civil strife.

Russia is another interesting case, persistent high Muslim immigration to Russia from the caucuses, but little civil violence.

Not sure why different countries have different outcomes.

      Gerard,

“but there are many predominantly immigrant suburbs all over Europe ( or at least non white) where rioting does not occur.”

You are missing my point, quite completely. I’ll repeat it for you.

“These immigrants are not pawns.

Hence the age-old cycle: bouts of violence followed by mobilization, organization, and political activism.”

Riots are one facet of the process. They are not the process. Riots were part of the African American civil rights process. That didn’t mean that each and every neighborhood with a predominantly African-American population rioted.

  2. Sadly, there is a decent chance of fourth gen warfare breaking out this time if the people in power do not throw some sort of benefits to the people in leading the masses.

Gerard – “Russia is another interesting case, persistent high Muslim immigration to Russia from the caucuses, but little civil violence.”

Really? You don’t think that the fact that the immigrants don’t KNOW how the Russians respond to civil violence after witnessing what happened in the North Caucasus region? The Roman solution to excessive civil violence in the provinces was to make a desert and call it peace. The Russians think the Romans were wimps.

    1. Larry Kummer, Editor

      Gerald,

“persistent high Muslim immigration to Russia from the caucuses, ”

That’s interesting. I don’t follow Russia, so didn’t know that. Have you seen any articles about that, that you have handy?

    2. Larry Kummer, Editor

      Pluto,

“Sadly, there is a decent chance of fourth gen warfare breaking out this time if the people in power do not throw some sort of benefits to the people in leading the masses.”

Don’t dramatize it. All we need to do is elect officials who want to close the borders. If we’re unwilling to bother doing so, we’re not going to wage 4GW.

4GW is waged by people willing to die for their goals. Casualties in 4GW insurgencies are usually more than 10x those of the defenders. It’s not something done by potatoes striking bold poses while sitting on their couches.

  3. Yes but if that the case why didn’t it happen before in France, England and Germany. In the main those communities didn’t mobilize politically, other than to assert there rights as citizens. Instead they joined the political system. The Islamic immigration of the post war era was sustained, and heavy in the above countries. Yet there is little sign of the developments you predict will occur. Why do you feel to will happen in this wave. I’m now having a go, just curious as to what you think has changed.

There is the phenomenon of Islamic extremism, obviously a huge problem, but something I would see as separate to an actual political movement that could build a broad Islamic coalition that could convince enough non Muslims that they would respect and represent there interests.

    1. Larry Kummer, Editor

      Gerald,

“Yes but if that the case why didn’t it happen before in France, England and Germany. ”

Odd that you include France in that list. They are leading this parade. The 2015 “event” was the largest, but there have been others before and since. There is constant low level street violence. This week was just a bit bigger than usual.

As for the others, there has been no need for violence, as those nations have accommodated migrants in almost every way. Violence arises only when stress increases. That can occur in economic downturns, when those on the bottom suffer much, or when the immigrant population grows large enough to flex its muscles — and encounters resistance. Or, of course, both occur.

It’s still early days for Europe’s problems. I suggest not assuming that its future will be like the past.

    2. Once again, you’re missing the bloody point. These barbarians don’t care for european culture, laws, or doing anything except taking advantage of european generosity and ideals. Why the hell should Europe compromise with people that have zero interest in compromise themselves? It is enough to make one want to kick them all out, seemingly a political impossibility now that there are millions of them and have all the sympathy of journalists and the political class.

Meanwhile in america the south-west is being recolonized by la reconquista and demographically we’re set to be a minority-majority nation this century. This country will be changed irrevocably and I don’t think it will be for the better.

      1. Larry Kummer, Editor

        American Muse,

“These barbarians don’t care for european culture, laws”

Exactly. Why should they? Europe is multicultural, and migrants are proud of their own culture and values. That big parts of it conflict with Europe’s culture is the natives’ problem, not theirs.

“Meanwhile in america the south-west is being recolonized by la reconquista and demographically we’re set to be a minority-majority nation this century.”

The meek inherit the Earth. That is, the dust of death. History is made by the bold.

“This country will be changed irrevocably and I don’t think it will be for the better.”

Remember, it is our apathy and passivity that allows this to happen.

  5. There has been no news about the riots in Australia, or none that I have seen.

Little news in the UK, as I spoke to my brother yesterday and he did not mention it, while we spoke about a possible trip to Paris, when I take my family and I back to the UK for a holiday in December. .

There is industrial rape and drug sales in the UK and the Police are told to ignore it, use a search engine and put in South Rotherham Police Chief interview and grooming gangs. One Chief Police Chief was increasing speeding violation policing and avoided investigating the rape issue. Not no one You Tube stuff it is a Parliamentary Committee questioning the new Police Chief by UK Ministers.

(In the UK) My brother’s wife was dropping the children at school when a fellow Mother asked “who is Tommy Robinson, is he a new boy?”.
One mother explain about Tommy in non PC terms and my brother’s wife was about to say something, when her friend touched her arm and shook her head.
The Mother asking about Tommy Robinson is a serving Police Officer, in later conversation, my brother’s wife said about feeling so sorry about the children, boys and girls raped and nothing done about the grooming. Red faced the Police Office said, it’s our Governments orders. But the point is she was looking to prosecute white people about Tommy Robinson support, while doing nothing about the grooming gangs.

The question then is letting them groom the poor’s kids, sell drugs and run mainly cash evening business’s the price the Government is prepared to pay to stop the terrorist attacks?

Fathers have been arrested for turning up at houses when the rapes were happening, poor and divorced Fathers, so the Government obviously didn’t care.

    1. Larry Kummer, Editor

      Guy,

      Wow, on all counts.

It will be interesting to see how long current trends continue in Britain. The mayor of Sheffield is a 28 year old immigrant from Somalia, a member of the Green party. This is the Left’s plan working perfectly. But my guess (guess) is that as migrants gain power, they won’t need the Left — and will form political alliances that better meet their cultures.

    2. I think you are dealing with something far deeper than ‘the government obviously doesn’t care’. There is a fundamental resistance in all of us to confronting evil; firstly in ourselves and secondly in others. Look at the natural resistance to confronting ingrained sin in our lives. We would rather fob it off as an aberration. In others; there is a strong resistance especially in Britain to considering anybody as being different.
We buy the lie that all men are created equal. For Merkel to admit that she has made a major mistake that will never be corrected is suicide as a politician. Far better for the left wing press to suppress the sexual assaults and rapes in Koln and Berlin. Don’t make a big deal of the Rotherham rapes and groomings. It is the ‘wise’ thing to let it die rather than confront it and risk a race riot. Look at the way they handled the Drummer Rigby beheading. The US does the same. Rather a work place incident than a Muslim terrorist in the armed forces.
Our natural inclination is to ‘ignore it and perhaps we can forget that it happened and it will go away.’ The alternative is confrontation and a massive disruption.
Everyone knows that the UN does not work. Who will admit it? More than this who would do something about it. (that is where I take my hat off to Nikki Haley.
In Europe they are in the shit to their eyeballs and looking down the line there is a sewage flood coming. If Erdogan decides to open the floodgates nothing will stop it. They know that there is a clash of civilizations, a train smash of religions (although Europe has material wellbeing as the main religion). They will not even entertain the thought much less do something about it.
It takes a lot more than observing and noting that something is happening to stop what is coming. What is required is unpopularity, a long-term vision, fortitude, moral conviction, confrontation with a media that is totally partisan and the ability to see things through and that is lacking because the spiritual backbone has been eaten by the termites.
We are deal makers and when confronted by resolute fanaticism we fold.
Moral relativity is the order of the day.

  6. JAG,

Wow. Are you saying this police woman was baiting other mothers to talk about Tommy Robinson to arrest them? Was this police woman an English woman?

In Tommy Robinson’s arrest video, an English guy walked by while he was filming and told Tommy that HE was the problem, not the rapists. I remember sitting next to an upper middle class English man on a plane several years ago who vehemently denied there were any Muslim “no-go” zones in the UK.

    Larry,

I’m reading this Gangster Warlords: Drug Dollars, Killing Fields, and the New Politics of Latin America by Ioan Grillo, which gives some clues as to why AMLO was elected and what may be blowing our way. I’ve heard rumors that cartels own many legitimate businesses in our N. CA city.

    1. Larry Kummer, Editor

      PRCD,

“I remember sitting next to an upper middle class English man on a plane several years ago who vehemently denied there were any Muslim “no-go” zones in the UK.”

That’s a typical and important reaction, seen in the US as well. Leftists hate American culture, and so rejoice at news about its destruction. Good liberals love open borders but without the hatred of our society. News about the effect of open borders creates cognitive dissonance, which they resolve by ignoring news about the ill effects of massive immigration.

Also, I added a full cite for the book to your comment.

      1. Larry Kummer, Editor

        PRCD,

Thanks for posting the link to that interesting article. Mexico becoming a failed state would be horrific for them and us.

It raises a question I often see asked, but never answered. People make the culture. People make the nation. If they come here, they bring the values and behaviors that collapsed their home nation. America can successfully assimilate some number of people of year (even after we disassembled much of the machinery that did this). What is the maximum number?

  7. Gavin Longmuir

“Europe” has long held a peculiar grasp on the minds of certain Americans, especially Left wingers — not the real Europe, where French Muslims burn cars and English soccer fans celebrate a victory over Sweden by trashing an IKEA store; no, an idealized Europe where everyone is intelligent, urbane, and lives in an Alpine Chateau.

Let’s face it — Europe had its day in the sun, but it is now essentially irrelevant. No serious person looks to Europe now for leadership on anything. No-one wants to emulate the Germans, talking big about the dubious challenge of Anthropogenic Global Warming while shutting down zero-emission nuclear power plants and building dirty brown coal plants to replace them.

Today, only two countries clearly have Civilizational Confidence, of the type exhibited generations ago by the now-diminished English when they built an Empire on which the sun never set. Those countries are China and Russia, and both of them will have a big role in the future. The United States is on the bubble — maybe people will keep drinking the European Kool-Aid and condemn the US to irrelevancy, or maybe enough people will start to fight back against the Political Class to open a new chapter – Time Will Tell. The only sure thing about the future is that Europe will be an afterthought.

  8. Dear Fabius,

I’ve been reading your articles on immigration in Europe for a while, and I’m wondering how do you think that the current immigrant suburbs in Europe compare with the worst neighborhoods in the US. The European perspective is that the violence situation in the US is still worse and more widespread than here, but you seem to believe the opposite; why? Or am I misunderstanding your position?

    1. Larry Kummer, Editor

      JP,

What’s the difference between the worst zones in the US and western Europe? Fewer guns in Europe, so the crime is different. But in Europe they burn cars, attack fire trucks, and do mass rapes. How do we compare the two?

      1. Larry Kummer, Editor

        JP,

I accidentally hit the send button before I answered your question.

“The European perspective is that the violence situation in the US is still worse and more widespread than here, ”

Crime in the US is a breakdown of individual morals. In Europe the violence is early stage political action. Trends is everything, levels mean little.

  9. Police Baiting – maybe – after all the Lord Mayor of London has ordered a concentration on online tweets ect for hate mail.

Knifings in London exceed knife and gun deaths in New York, so we can clearly see the need to concentrate on online hate crime. I have read 3,000 have been arrested or interview in 2017.

I know how bad it is in the UK and would not even put this much on line if I lived there, I would just not get any work in leftie education.

I will tell you a true situation I was in in London, before I left, the Leftie Head of School gave me utter shit for my two years, in an ethic area, when I left she asked me “please don’t tell them what I am”. If the Muslim students had known she was not a widow, but a Lesbian with a female partner, they would have demanded she leave the school. Where did she live in a rural white area where she was” a rainbow warrior in the abhorrent whiteness”, why did she live there and not in the ethnic area, oh yes they won’t tolerate LGBT. I didn’t say what she was and moved to another college, after I had left she gave me a bad reference about attitude to management and that tainted my career in leftie education. Interesting thing was the Ethnic Minority actually liked my classes pro market with less government.

Bitter no, I have run a Property Development company on the side and done quite well.

I think the history of Lebanon is playing out globally,

  10. Mandy been here a while

Sadly, it’s too late to simply close the borders. The flow must be reversed. Not sure this can happen peacefully.

  11. In Europe the violence is early stage political action

Larry, I do not believe this. What is the evidence? Google “Émeutes à Nantes” for the local press. No trace of what you think.

    1. Larry Kummer, Editor

      George,

As I’ve said before about your complacency in the face of change, time will tell.

“No trace of what you think.”

That’s your usual rebuttal to evidence. Denial and hand-waving. Whatever.

  12. It raises a question I often see asked, but never answered. People make the culture. People make the nation. If they come here, they bring the values and behaviors that collapsed their home nation. America can successfully assimilate some number of people of year (even after we disassembled much of the machinery that did this). What is the maximum number?

    Larry,

The ’90s was when we became multicultural. Like Obama, Bill Clinton believed in the fundamental transformation of America and his presidency was a ripe time for the academic/government elite to foist the doctrine of multiculturalism upon us after decades of propagation through academia beginning in the Frankfurt School.. Multiculturalism is a doctrine of division and envy. Assimilation is no longer required.

For California, the maximum number was reached in the early Aughts. I think it is past the point for the rest of the nation now.

  13. Larry, if you think what is going on in Paris, Brussels and indeed Rochdale and some other northern English cities is correctly described thus:

They are proud people, albeit mostly undereducated and poor, from cultures with histories as long as Europe’s. Many are Muslim, with a history as glorious as that of the Christian West. The come from many nations. But inevitably if slowly they have recognized that they have more in common with each other than with their rich arrogant hosts, whose political leaders seek to use them. They feel their power as their numbers grow, especially as they see the spiritual weakness of Europe’s senescent society. They see themselves as the future.

I can only think you have not been there recently, or not for long enough, maybe not speaking the languages. Walk around Brussels after dark, walk across some of the deserted open places. Try walking around the Hilton. Go to Molenbeek. Walk around Les Halles in Paris after dark. Maybe actually go to Nantes, go to some of the Paris suburbs. Talk to some of the locals, read the local press. Go up to Rochdale in the UK and chat. It will take quite some time before they talk to you. Take the time.

Now, do you think the Pakistani gangs there in Rochdale were a proud people with a glorious history seeking to exercise political power? Do you think the perpetrators of the Koln New Year attacks were this proud people with that glorious history? Visit Tower Hamlets and find out about the recent local political history there. Does this fit with your story?

You’re California dreaming. You want to write about what’s going on with immigration and Europe, go there and report on it first hand. At least, read the local press, in the language of the locals. Listen to their experience.

You think my reaction is denial and handwaving? I live here and speak and read the languages. I have lived and worked in these cities.I see what is in front of me.

    Your account is pure fantasy.

    1. Larry Kummer, Editor

      George,

It’s not that everything you say is wrong. But an astonishingly high fraction is shockingly ignorant.

“do you think the Pakistani gangs there in Rochdale were a proud people with a glorious history? ”

Of course. Do you think they’re animals? I have talked with people in the worst slums of America. Men who would gut you like a trout just for fun. Generalizing, they are proud. I talked to a member of M-13. He was quite proud.

Pride is an inherent characteristic of people, seen across time and space even among the poorest and most oppressed.

As for their history, I suggest you read about about history of the Indian subcontinent (Wikipedia is a good place to start). They had a high civilization when my illiterate European ancestors painted themselves blue, danced naked, and worshiped trees. My West African ancestors were probably no more advanced.

  14. I’ve arrived late to this post, however I have items that might be of interest. I wrote this on my phone so please forgive any bizarre formatting. A poem that explains our governing elites’ attitudes towards immigration.

    “The Solution” by Bertolt Brecht.

After the uprising of the 17th of June
The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee
    Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government
And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier
In that case for the government
    To dissolve the people
    And elect another?

Events in France seem to be accelerating, the specter of Nick Land hangs over us. “The French Anti-Muslim Terrorist Cell – A Mirror Image of Jihadists.

Also there’s a bevy of resources out there that catalogue the various beliefs of people around the world. One is the World Values Survey another is the Pew Research Center, here’s a link from 2016 about how much the Quran should influence laws in various countries.

    1. Larry Kummer, Editor

      Hoyticus,

Thanks for the poem (always appreciated) and the always great links to Pew!

  15. LOL. How about when you invite in the THIRD WORLD into your country, do not be surprised when your country turns into the THIRD WORLD!!!

Name a prominent African civilization that has benefited the world?……still waiting……
