This week’s reveals about the Deep State’s info ops

Summary: It has been a big week for America, with big reveals showing how the Deep State manipulates the news – and our view of the world. Of course this has not been reported by the major news media.

I grow increasingly worried that Americans are enmeshed in systems that mold our understanding of the world. Systems that are omnipresent, invincible (beyond question), and invisible. I have written scores of posts about this during the past 15 years. This has become more obvious each year, for those who care to see. This year has been especially rich in revelations about these systems.

Revelations: Wikipedia is an arm of the Deep State

The story has evolved as more information emerged. These provide ample evidence – hard evidence – of Wikiquote’s malicious support of the Deep State. If so, what other organizations conduct similar operations? Do Google, Facebook, Twitter? I recommend starting with one of the last two articles.

Wikipedia is useful for information about non-controversial subjects and most useful as a source of links (the footnotes are more valuable than the entries). That is how it is used on the FM website.

RussiaGate provides a window into the Deep State

On May 9 the WaPo published what they were told by government officials, in their usual role as highly paid stenographers.

“Information being sought by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes could endanger a top-secret intelligence source. Top White House officials, with the assent of President Trump, agreed to back the decision to withhold the information. They were persuaded that turning over Justice Department documents could risk lives by potentially exposing the source, a U.S. citizen who has provided intelligence to the CIA and FBI, according to multiple people familiar with the discussion and the person’s role.”

Congress pushed to learn the name of the Deep State’s informant in the Trump campaign, under well-established procedures to maintain secrecy. In response, government officials leaked stories to the WaPo and NYT. These gave sufficient information to identify the informant as Stefan Halper – who had been identified as the informant by Chuck Ross at the Daily Caller on March 25.

Halper has had a typical career in senior national security posts in the Nixon and Reagan administrations and maintained a long relationship with the CIA, ending with placement in a senior corporate job (chairman and majority shareholder of the Palmer National Bank of Washington, D.C., which moved money for Oliver North’s ops). He was identified in 1983 as running the op with former CIA agents to spy on Carter for Reagan’s 1980 Presidential election campaign (NYT, UPI). The US government paid him over a million dollars for classified work from 2012 – 2017. Was any of this for his spying on the Trump campaign staff?

If the informant is Halper, as the NYT and WaPo imply, that means the dire warnings about the consequences of revealing his name were lies. Halper was not a secret agent, nor is there any visible reason that more revelations of his activities would put his life at risk.

The “people will die if you learn our secrets” gag has been frequently used since 9/11. It has repeatedly been proven false. But we believe it every time, so count on seeing it again.

Like most of the RussiaGate tale, the Harper story consists of lies by the Deep State and their allies, facilitated by the credulous stories in the major new media. Glen Greenwald tells the story of the dark and duplicitous manipulation of the American people. I strongly recommend that you read it.

More examples of the strange stories told us, forgotten when proven false

“The Skripal Case Is Being Pushed Down The Memory Hole With Libya And Aleppo” by Caitlin Johnstone. Her conclusion …

“Time and time again, we’re fed these deceitful narratives to manufacture support for the agendas of the western war machine, and when the truth begins to surface that we were lied to once again, the news churn moves on and we’re distracted with something else as the old narrative is shuffled back beyond the reach of memory. Maybe a year or two later we wonder to ourselves “I wonder what ever happened with that major news story? I should google it,” but nothing comes up and most of us shrug and move on. …

“But we won’t let them forget. We won’t let the world forget that these steadily increasing imperialist escalations against Russia and its allies were given a hefty bump by lies about what happened in Salisbury. There are plenty of people on alternative media like me who will keep pointing at that big dark hole of unanswered questions and yelling ‘Hey! What about all those lies you guys told us about the Skripals?'”

Conclusions

The bad news is that US government officials often lie to us about matters of great importance. See The Big List of Lies for examples (post it everywhere to change America).

The worse news is that many of our factional disputes are fed by lies by our rulers. These keep us ignorant and divided, and so easily ruled. Reform is impossible until we learn skepticism. See the posts about this, one of our most urgent national needs.
