This crisis will prove that Americans are not sheep (unless we are)

Here is an excerpt of a report by Joan McCullough of East Shore Partners, 24 November 2008:

Questions: There are over 3 hundred million of us. There are only 638 of them. (435 in the House; 200 in the Senate; and the Three Stooges, Paulson, Bernanke and Geithner.)

  1. You wanna’ maybe walk me thru why we sit here and let them run roughshod over the top of us — and several, future generations of Americans, too?
  2. Can you draw me a picture of what possesses us to remain silent, having observed Wall Street pillage and plunder, making themselves fabulously wealthy in the process, setting off an unfathomable string of “unintended consequences”, noting that “unintended” is a substitute for “who gives a fig”?

Not the least of which is a credit crisis which has wreaked havoc around the globe. And which has managed to unmask glaring chinks in our financial foundation, up to and including the current crisis in Detroit, the student who can’t get money for school, the extreme financial duress of the states which, in turn, is giving rise to draconian measures, the world shipping industry at a standstill, the masses who have and who will lose jobs and the 96-year old widow who cannot transfer to assisted living as there is currently no market for her home.

We know which group and what m.o. is the root cause of all the misery. Why on earth would we allow the same group of maladjusted moon-calves to mete out the same m.o. as remedy? It is beyond imagination.

I also continue to wonder aloud why we are not already in the streets, protesting the fact that we are being robbed by the FED 24/7. While Mr. Bernanke fights demands for transparency as to what collateral and from whom it has been accepted because such revelation would be “counterproductive”, I ask this:

Do we have any idea what it means when the FED — which creates those Federal Reserve Notes which serve as our legal tender — refuses to reveal what is supporting them?

Clearly, it means that they are not proud of the collateral that they have accepted as replacement for the once-pristine backing of US Treasury bills and notes. Thus, it is reasonable to surmise that they have abused rules and regulations by accepting schlock in exchange for money, which transaction is the ultimate responsibility of John Q. Public. That alone, ladies and germs, should be enough to get your BP up.

Know this: We are easy prey and are being dispossessed by the minute. Think about that, will you? By what measure of audacity did they embark on the grand theft of the United States? By what measure of complacency do we allow them to continue to ransack our personal finances?

Perhaps the answer to her questions is that we are sheep, and unable to bear the burdens of citzenship.  Time wears away the surface of things, showing the true metal underneath.

  1. Oh, we’re sheep, all right. We keep on electing people like Frank, Dodd, Pelosi, Reid, et al, to high office and accept blindly the false and misleading propaganda of a highly biased media.
When we’ve finally had enough, we’ll start electing officials who really care about our country instead of their thirst for power.
Until then, we’re screwed, and we’re doing it to ourselves. We have the government we deserve.

  2. Viewing history through the compressed lens of the present would lead you to believe that great leaders appear when needed. On the contrary, the visionary leader is truly rare and completely lacking in today’s world. There is no Sam Adams, Thomas Paine and certainly no Thomas Jefferson or George Washington lurking about. They were leaders who took an entire nation of sheep [except for the enslaved ones] and taught them to fight the wolves. Alas, for all their wisdom and passion they were indeed, in the end, only men, and flawed men at that. Each step they took was burdened with shackles and despite the exhortations and admonishments the nation of snarling fighters reverted to being comfortable sheep seeking only what came easiest.

The question no one is asking is this: By what right should the United States of America continue to exist?

History clearly states that no nation has ever survived to maturity and since this county – and the Constitution that began the rot – are unique, then there is no precedent for the grotesque consumption fostered from the bottom up! It is not the rich who have spent their way into oblivion, it is the vast unwashed mob who grew tired of the bread and circus and so mortgaged themselves into owning individual Coliseums where the only gladiators are family and friends vying for a slice of the enormous pie.

So feast away fellow sheep, for the pit is dug, the faggots stacked high and the extra-virgin olive oil pressed and suffused with fresh rosemary and sage. We are being served up as the main course and although mutton is an acquired taste, so is money and we will refuse to the bitter end to relinquish our place as consumers of the world.

  4. I found that Americans, in general are good at following the leader. Not as good as Germans, but not far from it. Very law obiding. Russian, on the other hand, will do everything to circumvent the law.

  5. Warning wry humour alert.

Atually Anna, you have hit a nail on the head. Bill Bryson’s books make this very clear about US beaucracies, roughly they make the old East Germans look humane. West Germans are different, one of the last countries where you can actually smoke and speed (look at the latest Top Gear episode, where they are ordered by the State not to be ‘ENTERTAINING’, becase that is not on their visa).

On the only time I was in the US (lots of places there I’d love to see, just never had time or the money and now no chance now,I really don’t want to be locked up for smiling the wrong way or making the wrong joke) I saw that in a weird way. No one would ‘jay walk’, but there were hookers lined up on the street .. bizarre.

And the customs and immigration people (long pre 9/11 no less), frankly I was convinced they were the children of ex-SS NCO’s. Boy what a non-smiling, order driven lot (where do you find these people). I kept expecting to hear ‘Schnell, schnell, ve hav ways of making you walk’ from them. God knows what it is like now with the TSA etc.

Which, from my point of view is bizare. US citizens are noted for being slow to anger and then .. watch out. Look at the massive civil right matches in the 60’s, we are talking about millions of people. What has happened FM? This is not sheep this is ameoba.

  6. The American Revolution was led by the elite of the colonies, not the masses. The elite will be protected as much as possible to prevent a recurrence.

  7. OldSkeptic , I dont think this is amoebaefication ( after all , amoebae turn self gratification into cloning ,a step that has so far stumped the human race ) but robotification . I blame political correctness , soft cushion teaching and drugs . I blame most things on drugs .
