The Democrats show us the politics of ClownWorld

Summary – Campaign 2020 shows us the politics of ClownWorld. It is a region beyond facts and reason. Let’s turn to James Howard Kunstler for a report about it.

“They have forgotten nothing and learned nothing.”
— Talleyrand wasn’t speaking about the Democratic Party in 1796 (he was referring to the Bourbons in exile). But it fits.

And so the four horsepeople-of-color arise, at once the glorious avatars of Wokesterdom in all their incendiary wrath, and the butt of ridicule among a pretty big chunk of everybody else in this land. I speak of congresswomen Omar, Tlaib, Pressley, and AOC, a.k.a. “the Squad,” riding a reconn mission to the precipice of that great cliff of electoral catastrophe – in advance of the political party that is apt to follow them over the edge in 2020, like so many suicidal lemmings.

Charges of “racism” have been twanging around the Federal District all week as if a throng of medieval re-enactors had taken over the place and were putting on a colorful pageant about ergot poisoning, with the townspeople afflicted by creeping incubi, crawling succubi, winged demons, murderous furies, and other agents of Satan.

I have often noted that our president is the genuine article of a supernatural figure himself, being both a Golden Golem of Greatness and a Twitter troll of the highest degree. Last week, the four Squad gals pointed their fingers and ululated at him – “racist! racist! – expecting perhaps that a bolt from on-high might strike him dead, but it only prompted him to more keyboard villainy, challenging them to fly back to whatever infernal hellhole they came out of. For three of them it was the good ol’ USA, parts of which are, let’s face it, rather hellhole-ish these days.

The American race hustle is getting kind of old and it’s a sure loser for the Democratic Party. Why they can’t move beyond it and engage with the many other mighty matters of our time is one of those abiding mysteries of life, like why the birdies sing, or why the Mets can’t get decent relief pitching. I daresay that in my lifetime this country has bent over backwards to assist, accommodate, and uplift the demographic that styles itself nowadays as people-of-color. None of that has managed to abolish significant economic inequality. But, really, what else can be done? Spend trillions more promoting fatherless households? (The Wokesters might like that, seeing as how much they detest people of the male persuasion.)

The main “ask” these days is to allow Mexicans and Central Americans to cross the border as they please and receive a menu of benefits provided gratis by the US government, and thus from US taxpayers. The arguments for that from Wokesterdom range from bad faith to completely insane, yet they are now being retailed at the highest level of presidential election politics. Every candidate in the first Democratic “debate” raised a hand in favor of providing free medical care to illegal border-jumpers. I wonder how that sits with the Americans who now pay $12,000 a year for health insurance with a $5,000 deductible.

Of course, this policy of unfettered illegal immigration does not economically favor the sizable demographic of poor Americans, many of whom are people-of-color. In theory, the border-jumpers are taking away an awful lot of jobs. But I think the argument there is that 300 years of slavery gives bonafide US citizens-of-color a pass on manual labor – so it is not against their interests to ally with the open border advocates – while both groups have an interest in getting any free stuff the government may offer.

The white liberal masochists allied with this crusade, led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, may have reached their own red-line for pain and suffering under the reigning twisted thought-regime. Last week, AOC attempted to tar Madame Pelosi as a “racist.” The day will come – if it has not already – when Madame P will have to usher the Squad into the House cloakroom and tune-up each member with thirty inches of re-bar, good and hard.

The Squad, meanwhile, is giving aid and comfort to the shock troops of Wokesterdom, the AntiFas, a devoted member of which last week attempted to shoot up and firebomb an Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in Tacoma. The perp, one Willem Van Spronsen, 69, was gunned down for his trouble, but left a “manifesto” detailing his allegiance to the Wokester party line. Another Wokester gang in Aurora, Colorado, marched on an ICE building, took down the US flag, and raised the flag of Mexico. Bad optics, I’d say. Imagine how the video footage of that will play in Michigan and Pennsylvania when election season rolls around.

Also meanwhile, the party’s pathetic attempt to revive the walking dead narrative of RussiaGate is not working too well down on Jerold Nadler’s House Judiciary Committee. The chairman apparently discovered that his star witness, Robert Mueller, might have to answer some embarrassing questions about the conduct of his investigation – like, why did it go on for two years when his chief deputy, Mr. Weissmann, was informed from the get-go that the main predicate document was a fraud? So, Mr. Mueller’s turn in the witness chair keeps getting postponed clear into the August recess. I doubt the former Special Counsel will ever sit in that hot-seat. If I was him, I sure wouldn’t do it voluntarily. Oh, did anyone notice the House staged an impeachment vote on Wednesday? It flopped too.

Finally, there is the walking time-bomb known as Jeffrey Epstein, Democratic Party poohbah and impresario of an underage sex racket featuring the “Lolita Express” airplane service to his private “Orgy Island” in the Caribbean, with auxiliary party shacks in New York City and the New Mexico Desert. Rogue reports have been styling Epstein’s doings as an international blackmailing operation associated with the CIA and other Intel outfits, including the UK’s MI6 and Israel’s Mossad, for the purpose of keeping international bigshots on a short leash. Who knows?

At the center of it all is former President Bill Clinton, listed twenty-six times on the Lolita Express’s flight manifest – though the ex-Prez said last week in a statement that it was only four times. (Consider the source.) A raft of unsealed documents in the matter has been court-ordered to drop any day, and power-players all over the world – especially in our nation’s capital and on Wall Street – are rumored to be chewing their fingernails down to the nubbins as they wait for it.

What a cargo of wickedness is borne by the garbage barge called the Democratic Party as it chugs out to sea toward a sickening, slightly radioactive orange sunset for what is looking like its final voyage.

Editor’s afterword

The next stage of your descent into ClownWorld is a secret.

Scary clown.

We are sliding into the next phase of the Crazy Years: welcome to ClownWorld! Everything changes. Political debates resemble skits on Monty Python’s Flying Circus (as do our campaigns). It is not just that the usual mild suburban boy reforms won’t work. It is that they are as irrelevant to our situation as the resolutions of the First Council of Nicea in 325.

Pulling ourselves out of ClownWorld will require an effort unlike anything before in our history. The clock is running as our institutions have begun to topple like dominoes (complex democratic and free market institutions cannot function in ClownWorld).

Showing the problem with our politics

Each side sees the flaws in the other sides. They are not wrong, fail to see the same flaw in their own side. So the gears in our political machinery no longer mesh, and the wheels spin wildly and futility.

 The Death of Politics:
How to Heal Our Frayed Republic After Trump
.

By Peter Wehner (2019).

“Any nation that elects Donald Trump to be its president has a remarkably low view of politics.”

The politics of hatred began long before Trump, and have been growing stronger over time. From the publisher …

“Frustrated and feeling betrayed, Americans have come to loathe politics with disastrous results, argues Peter Wehner. In this timely manifesto, the veteran of three Republican administrations and man of faith offers a reasoned and persuasive argument for restoring ‘politics’ as a worthy calling to a cynical and disillusioned generation of Americans.

“Wehner has long been one of the leading conservative critics of Donald Trump and his effect on the Republican Party. In this impassioned book, he makes clear that unless we overcome the despair that has caused citizens to abandon hope in the primary means for improving our world – the political process – we will not only fall victim to despots but hasten the decline of what has truly made America great. Drawing on history and experience, he reminds us of the hard lessons we have learned about how we rule ourselves – why we have checks and balances, why no one is above the law, why we defend the rights of even those we disagree with.

“Wehner believes we can turn the country around, but only if we abandon our hatred and learn to appreciate and honor the unique and noble American tradition of doing ‘politics.’ If we want the great American experiment to continue and to once again prosper, we must once more take up the responsibility each and every one of us as citizens share.”

  1. Good post. Both parties are just continuing the endless divisive politics of race, which is really useful to the 1% who would hate to see the political conversation turn to the divisive politics of class. Both parties are funded by the 1% and we should therefore expect them to obey their masters and continue to keep the focus on race and not on class and the inequities of the economic system.

Obedience to the masters of money is revealing itself to those with subtle skills of observation who have already concluded that the Democrats have been ordered to throw this election. Yes, I believe the Democrats have no intention of winning the 2020 election, the 1% wants them to sit this one out. Trump has served the 1% well, he has delivered them massive tax cuts, he’s good at keeping the conversation on race/immigration issues and off class issues — he deserves reelection. From the perspective of the 1%, whose power has grown even faster under his time in office, Trump is what we need now.

    1. Gloucon,

You point to the essence of US politics: the essential need of our ruling elites (they are not a unitary entity) to keep us fragmented – and so weak.

“he’s good at keeping the conversation on race/immigration issues and off class issues”

The Left began this game, at least in its current iteration.

  2. Ilhan Omar’s using the spotlight that’s currently on her to introduce a free speech bill to protect the right to boycott. It’s good to see she isn’t going to be cowed by the attacks from Republicans and members of her own party and is framing the debate exactly as it should be: as a free speech issue.

    1. George,

That’s an important point about ClownWorld: even the crazies can seem rational for five minutes. That is, people on all sides of the debates have reasonable things to say. In minute six they begin talking backwards.

Looking at the bigger picture, there are no angels or devils. The extreme case: look at the accomplishments of the regimes headed by Stalin, Mao, and especially Hitler.

  3. We all float down here, Larry.

Well, it was Pat Buchanan who said that if we tear the country in half we can pick up the bigger half. The Squad seems willing to make that same bet. Buchanan was right at the time. Maybe the Squad is right this time, but I’m not betting my next paycheck on it. King Solomon figured out that anyone who cared about something didn’t really want to tear it in half in the first place, but that was a long time ago,.

Regarding some of the other issues Kuntsler touches on, especially Russiagate and Epstein, I’m clueless. The truth is out there, but I’m starting to wonder how much of it can be exposed before the government melts down or has a crisis of legitimacy. My guess for what it’s worth, is that Epstein had nothing to so with intelligence. He was mostly a very successful procurer to, and maybe blackmailer of, a decadent ruling class. The actual truth about him might be harder to live with than finding out he was a spy. As for Russiagate, I honestly wonder if it’s just over and no one’s figured it out yet. They’ll threaten to impeach Trump until the day he leaves office, but they’ll never pull the trigger on it, and whoever gave the orders for the Russia Hoax will never see the inside of a court.

Cue up Patches The Clown by Deadbolt…

  4. “The American race hustle is getting kind of old…”

Kunstler couldn’t be more wrong…he doesn’t seem to know that the American race hustle is a brilliant tactic by the 1% to distract and divide and will only accelerate. The left side of the 1% poses as its advocate while the Chamber of Commerce led right side of the 1% keeps quiet and rakes in the profit from the cheaper labor. The 1% doesn’t care which of its two bought parties rules at any given time. The Immigration Act of 1965 was designed to change the demographics of the country so that our politics would become all race all the time. The divide and distract tactics have worked brilliantly as the acceleration of the 1% ‘s share of the wealth has grown enormously as the population has become more diverse, more distracted, and more divided. It’s not a game, it has produced massive wealth for the 1% and increased poverty for the working class.

  5. Why on Earth would this go on? Why wouldn’t the Democrats come up with a real candidate who could get rid of the Twitter in Chief? My initial assessment of this party as psychopathic was seems to be correct after all, There’s not much time left for this. Is there, anywhere a decent democratic candidate out there???

    1. Jako,

I assume you are kidding. The Republicans nominated weirdo McCain and even weirder Sarah Palin, then Trump (somewhere between the two on the weird-o-meter).

You blithely assume that none of the Dem candidates can win, just as the Democrats were totally convinced that clownish Trump couldn’t win.

It’s ClownWorld. America doesn’t want experienced, stable, sensible candidates. On the stage with the weirdoos, they look boring. We judge them like we do the contestants on the Gong show.

      1. Larry,

I thought you knew me better ;)
I often try to present an alternate stand-point — in the clown-world of today a “reasonable” candidate would not only stand out, but maybe even win.
Except, e.g. in 2012 — Romney/Ryan, while very reasonable people, had proven “not to be mammals” (as in Q: “Who could defeat Obama?” A: “A mammal.”)
What I found funny: Obama-Care is (me thinks) very similar to Romney’s MA model and a government of a Nobel Peace Price recipient had committed more violence and grief than many of his Democratic predecessors…

  6. The tweets that changed America (for a week) because Democrats played the race card. What a show by “the Squad”. Sad.

    “Final Voyage”

      1. Larry,

Without reading that post, I would agree. When I was working and raising a family, I had no time for this political BS.
Being retired, I watch the circus. It still beats working.

      2. Ron,

That’s a poor use of your time. As a retired person, you are a potentially valuable contributor to America. For example, lots of charities would love you to help.

Watching the political circus is the equivalent of watching TV soaps all day, collecting string, or staring into a dark cold fireplace.

      3. Larry,

“That’s a poor use of your time. As a retired person, you are a potentially valuable contributor to America. For example, lots of charities would love you to help.”

Yes, a bad habit. I’m working on it.

      4. Larry,

I’ll work on that too. For me, that’s about a years worth of reading. A lot of work here, you should be proud.
