Summary: In 2015, I said that a war between the genders had begun, and that women were winning. By now it is obvious that they are reaching for dominance in US society – and getting it, with the cooperation of men. The resulting changes have just begun. It will be a revolution like none other, ever.

“They talk about ‘a woman’s sphere’
As though it has a limit;
There’s not a spot on sea or shore,
In sanctum, office, shop or store,
Without a woman in it.”
— Anonymous, from Jennie Day Haines’ Sovereign Woman Versus Mere Man (1905).
In 2009 I wrote a series about the coming gender role reversal that was putting women on top of men. Others also saw this coming. This insight went mainstream with “The End of Men” by Hanna Rosin in The Atlantic, 8 June 2010.
“Earlier this year, women became the majority of the workforce for the first time in U.S. history. Most managers are now women too. And for every two men who get a college degree this year, three women will do the same. For years, women’s progress has been cast as a struggle for equality. But what if equality isn’t the end point? What if modern, postindustrial society is simply better suited to women? A report on the unprecedented role reversal now under way – and its vast cultural consequences.”
The more interesting fact is that this was seen first on the street – the wisdom of crowds at work (red emphasis added).
“In the ’90s, when {biologist Ronald Ericsson} looked into the numbers for the two dozen or so clinics that use his process {sex selection}, he discovered, to his surprise, that couples were requesting more girls than boys, a gap that has persisted …In some clinics the ratio is now as high as 2 to 1. …A newer method for sperm selection, called MicroSort, {has} girl requests …at about 75%. …
“‘It’s the women who are driving all the decisions,’ he says – a change the MicroSort spokespeople I met with also mentioned. At first, Ericsson says, women who called his clinics would apologize and shyly explain that they already had two boys. “Now they just call and [say] outright, ‘I want a girl.’ These mothers look at their lives and think their daughters will have a bright future their mother and grandmother didn’t have, brighter than their sons, even, so why wouldn’t you choose a girl?”

Her article is well-stocked with data and logic, which I will not repeat here. Read it. Better yet read her book The End of Men: And the Rise of Women. It’s not just that women are doing better (that’s a good thing), but that the absolute condition of men is deteriorating. People have been pointing that out for a decade, but it’s been shouted down by feminists until the numbers have become too dark to easily ignore (we’re still ignoring them; it’s just more difficult to do so).
The sole domains still dominated by men are paternity and war. Artificial insemination replaces men in the former, supported by women’s growing economic strength and government aid for single mothers.
As for war, other than infantry and a few similar physically demanding specialties, women can do just as well. Men supremacists advocating male-only wars are reduced to saying that women in war just will not work – just as Blacks couldn’t fight, and letting homosexuals into the military (openly) would be The End of the US Armed Forces. Good luck with that. This also requires ignoring the long role of women fighting on the front lines of so many 4GWs during the past century.

Below her article are links to two in a new genre of women on top articles. First, “The End of Men, for Real: Hooters Is Desperate for Female Customers.” There are not enough men out there, and they have too little disposable income. Lots of other examples out there. “How did I learn women are superior? From a burst water pipe” by James Delingpole in The Spectator. “Why Women Are the Superior Gender“, Clifford N Lazarus in Psychology Today – “In a Battle of the Sexes, Bet on the Women!” “A Better World, Run by Women” in the Wall Street Journal – “Male biology has brought the world war, corruption and scandal. Women are poised to lead us to a better place.” “(Why) the Future is Feminine” by Umair Haque – “Why Women are Changing a Dystopian World of Male Violence, While Men are Busy Being Men”

There are many books like Rosin’s. From The Natural Superiority of Women by Ashley Montagu (1952) to Women After All: Sex, Evolution, and the End of Male Supremacy
by Melvin Konner, MD (2015). His article in the Chronicle of Higher Education opens with “Women are not equal to men; they are superior in many ways, and in most ways that will count in the future.”
Second, “Why Do Female Authors Dominate Young-Adult Fiction?” It is part of the booming women are better literature. “Bourbon tasting: Why women are better bourbon tasters.” “In the Legal Profession, Are Women the Superior Gender?” Spoiler: she says “yes.” Studies show that female doctors are better than male doctors: here and here. “Women Are Superior Wordsmiths From an Early Age.” Women function better under pressure: “Choking Under Pressure and Gender: Evidence from Professional Tennis.” Making a wild generalization, Obama said that “Not to generalise but women seem to have a better capacity {for leadership} than men do, partly because of their socialisation.” “Women Are Better at Crowdfunding Than Men Are.” “Superiority of Female Workers Confirmed: Study Finds Women Really Do Work Longer And Harder Than Men” by Elise Ackerman in Forbes – Findings of this study by the Ponemon Institute. “Why Women Are The Stronger Sex According To Science” in the Huffington Post.
Expect to see more of those articles. Showing that women are better gets attention. For academics, it is the fast track to publication and tenure. Showing that men are better is sexism. Publication in major venues is almost impossible. Ostracism, even career death, is likely should you get published. The wise researcher will tilt the results to match today’s dogma.
Also, note the high degree of self-hatred in those articles above that are written by men.
At Cornell, I was taught third wave feminism by sociology professor Judith Long Laws (author of The Second X: Sex Role and Social Role, 1978). She taught us to gain a better perspective when looking for sexism by reversing the genders in a statement. By that method, cutting edge feminism is sexist at the core. What happened?

This is the fourth wave of feminism
The first three waves of feminism (there are many definitions of each) were about the quest for equality.
The fourth wave is about the quest for superiority and control over men by women. Controlling how men look at women and how they talk. Politicians, bureaucrats, and judges set rules for courtship and seduction. Special programs and scholarships for women. Preferences in hiring and workplace advancement for women (starting in colleges, spreading from there). Law enforcement and social service agencies use the Duluth Model when dealing with domestic violence; in practice this usually treats the man as the guilty party – even if he is the victim. “Believe the women victim” makes a man’s defense difficult – and is advocated by feminists even though the number of false claims shows it to be unjust.
We are already seeing the early effects of the fourth wave. This is nothing compared to the effects on society when the children raised with fourth generation feminism’s beliefs move into society. It will be like a Richter 10 earthquake hitting our society. By then, of course, all those people can do is try to mitigate the damage. This is an experiment seldom, if ever, tried on this scale by a society on itself.

Feminism, especially of the supremacist kind is simply a byproduct of the success of Western civilization. One that no longer sees the inner workings of its own complex machinery and, in an attempt to beautify itself for asinine and trivial reasons, beings ripping out the very cogs and mechanisms that is responsible for its existence.
By the time it realizes the true extent of its damage, it will rue the day it threw out the blueprints to its own design along with the parts it deemed unnecessary and inferior!
Semetary,
That’s pretty much my view of the situation. We see our peace and prosperity as the just due to our awesomeness, and lack awareness that it requires ceaseless work to maintain. Every society is one generation away from barbarism.
So we experiment on ourselves, vast social engineering projects tinkering with dynamics we do not understand. It is the supreme form of hubris.

John,
Thanks for the cite! I added a link to your comment, and added this to the post.
Women have become men and men have become women yet women still arent happy.
women take antidepressants at 2.5x the rate men do. Google the paradox of womens unhappiness.
Sven,
Yes, that’s an important piece of the puzzle! See “The Paradox of Declining Female Happiness” by Betsey Stevenson and Justin Wolfers, May 2009.
They used to call such pills “Mother’s Little Helpers.” Now I guess they’re “Independent Empowered Career Woman’s Helpers.”
What do you think is the endgame of this?
In the West, will this became a sustaining feminized culture that can maintain itself? In Western Europe, where I presume this process is even more accelerated, you have the simultaneous phenomenon of mass migration. Mass migration which disproportionately consists of young males from places and cultures that are less…feminist. Maybe the enlightened feminist culture of Western Europe is so powerful and successful that it will readily assimilate the non-European immigrants entering into former Chistendom? I don’t know.
We are told that the very suggestion that immigrant males may not have the same enlightened attitude towards gender relations is racist. And when you have predictable outcomes like Rotherham and Cologne, the native European feminists of third or fourth wave variety declare that suggesting that there is any such problem is racist.
“After Cologne, we can’t let the bigots steal feminism” by Laurie Penny in New Statesman – America – “Why can’t we always take sexual assault as seriously as we do when migrants and Muslims are involved as perpetrators?”
However, some old guard second wave European feminists dared state the obvious.
“Alice Schwarzer: ‘The perpetrators on NYE in Cologne were Islamists’” at DW – “Germany’s most prominent feminist, Alice Schwarzer deals with the sex assaults in Cologne on December 31 in a new book. She tells DW why she uses a term usually reserved to a political ideology to describe the offenders.”
Of course it doesn’t help that certain immigration advocates shout out what other people have long suspected.
“Imam tells Muslim migrants to ‘breed children’ with Europeans to ‘conquer their countries’” in the Daily Mail, 2015 – He vows “We will trample them underfoot, Allah willing”
Europe’s feminization has not gone unnoticed, and I can’t help but think that the rest of the world regards Europe as some land of women to be taken. And honestly, when European “men” respond to mass rape by wearing dresses, are they wrong?
“In Amsterdam, Men Wear Mini-Skirts on Anti-Rape March” in VICE – “After the Cologne sex attacks, men in the Netherlands put on their best skirts to protest victim blaming and show solidarity for women.”
Durasim,
Thank you for those great links. I added full citations to them, to encourage readers to click through.
“What do you think is the endgame of this?”
I am a retired bookie (aka investment manager), and my record of forecasting here is pretty good (see the top menu bar). But for this, I can’t even guess if it will end well or badly. Either way, I am certain that the collateral damage (eg, blasted lives) along the way will be immense.
I realize you were speaking in the American context and the immigration dynamic is different for the US than it is for Europe. Europe’s influx is mostly Muslim while the US is getting mostly Mexican and Latin American flow. I’m sure lots of immigrant men coming into the US have a stronger “machismo” culture, but I don’t know if it’s going to create the same situation as Europe is facing. Maybe immigrant Latin American men are more easily assimilated into the American female future?
Durasim,
“I’m sure lots of immigrant men coming into the US have a stronger ‘machismo’ culture”
This points to one possible end to the gender wars: the remnants (there is always a remnant) of strong men stand together. African Americans, immigrants from Latin America and Asia, Muslims, and men in occupations valuing machismo (eg, vets, law enforcement, construction). Just a guess, of course.
One thing that I have noticed is that Hispanic women are quick to abandon the societal mores from the old country and they giddily jump onto the carousel, and thus many wind up single mothers. The macho guys are more than happy to sexually service them. My sister is a bilingual teacher and from what she tells me Hispanic teen pregnancy is at epidemic levels at the school. And these girls are recent arrivals and did not grow up here, yet they quickly got with the program. Of course they understand that by being single mothers they will get all sorts of free cheese: section 8, food stamps, etc. Plus they get to have sex with the hot muchachos, so it’s a win/win for them.
Frank,
I too have seen that. I know almost nothing of Latin Am culture. Guessing, I wonder if in their home cultures young girls are kept on short tethers. That’s almost impossible here, so the girls are unleashed and run wild.
Whatever the cause, the nuclear family is dying in America. For 2017, per the CDC.
The numbers by race/ethnicity are disturbing, since the groups with the fastest growth rates have the highest rates of unmarried births. For 2015:
I know things are changing in LatAm regarding sexual morality, with them being 20-30 years behind us, meaning that a lot of girls, while they don’t ride the carousel, do have sex with their boyfriends. During my time living there, which was decades ago, girls were kept on very short leashes and you didn’t bang your girlfriend (that’s what whores were for), not that it didn’t happen, but it was somewhat rare. So I suppose that now parents look the other way, hoping that the young couple will marry sooner than later and that their daughter’s N counts will remain low, that they won’t contract an STD or become pregnant and that they won’t “be left behind to dress saints”/”quedarse a vestir santos” (become old maids).
But arriving here must be mind blowing for them. Once they find out they can sleep with all the guys they want and not only will no one tsk, tsk them, that they might even be praised, well, the results are predictable. And then there are all the government freebies to reward them for being irresponsible.
I know a Mexican Catholic Priest and he is livid over the situation and isn’t shy to talk about it from the pulpit. There are no heroic single mothers in his book, unless they are widows.
Frank,
“I know a Mexican Catholic Priest and he is livid over the situation and isn’t shy to talk about it from the pulpit. There are no heroic single mothers in his book, unless they are widows.”
I wonder if he – or his replacement – will get with the American Roman Catholic program and embrace single mothers.
“I wonder if he – or his replacement – will get with the American Roman Catholic program and embrace single mothers.”
I have never heard a Priest praise single mothers from the pulpit at my parish, but he is one of the few I have met who denounce them. And unlike with some of the churches and preachers Dalrock describes in his blog, I have never witnessed men being demonized on Father’s Day by the homilist, rather the opposite, there is always praise and thanks given to them. I’m certain though that there are Jesuits, Franciscans and members of other orders who do such things as well as a Diocesan clergy as well. We also had a young Priest from Tanzania, who did not shy away from speaking of why sexual immorality is to be avoided at all costs.
Your mileage will vary depending on which Diocese you are in and who the Ordinary is.
Frank,
“I have never heard a Priest praise single mothers from the pulpit at my parish”
Here is one of the countless instances of Roman Catholic priests (eg. Pope Frances) praising single mothers – albeit not at the pulpit. Google will show you thousands more. This was from 2015, midway in the RCC’s evolution to full acceptance.
Remember these wise words about religion:
The Gates of Hell will not prevail.
Frank,
History shows that civilizations do collapse, bringing awful conditions. Conditions beyond the ability of many of today’s Americans to imagine.
That it is not hell is, so to speak, cold comfort.
History also shows that every attempt to create Heaven on Earth fails, often with violent results. Remember, everything we suffer here is transitory, our earthly lives are but a moment in eternity, while Hell is forever. Choose carefully.
Frank,
“History also shows that every attempt to create Heaven on Earth fails, often with violent results.”
That’s quite false. Attempts to create “Heaven” are extraordinarily rare. Most are very small scale, like communes. They tend to last for a while, then fade out quietly. The violent ones, like Jonestown of Jim Jones’ People’s Temple, are rare exceptions.
“everything we suffer here is transitory, our earthly lives are but a moment in eternity”
That’s nice. But please get out of the way of people concerned with improving lives on Earth. You might consider Keynes’ wise words.
“while Hell is forever.”
Writing the story of Hell is humanity’s largest and longest-duration collective project. I strongly recommend reading The History of Hell
by Alice K. Turner.
While fascinating, it is a weak basis for making public policy.
Great article, but I strongly disagree with this portion:
“As for war, other than infantry and a few similar physically demanding specialties, women can do just as well.”
It is not just the infantry. Males are superior to females in literally every role the military has. Yes, this includes supply, signal, recruiting, pilots, drill, intelligence, medics, and yes, even cooks. Ask any veteran and they will tell you that there is not a unit in the military where you don’t have male service members effectively doing the females’ work for them. Yes, the sheer numbers of military females is large enough that you will occasionally find a “good” one, but they are only “good” until they have to get sent home from a deployment for getting pregnant, or they hook up with a superior, or sleep with multiple men in their own unit causing fights/division, etc.
What I noticed about many of those male authors is that they faces look soft. Just like this man here:
https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fs3-origin-images.politico.com%2F2013%2F12%2F18%2F131218_lowry_pajamaboy.jpg
info,
Remember the test of the Buzzfeed guys’ testosterone levels! Most were at levels warranting booster drugs.
Also see “Is sociopolitical egalitarianism related to bodily and facial formidability in men?” in Evolution and Human Behaviour, September 2017. Like previous research, they found that male formidability/attractiveness and egalitarianism are negatively related. The authors do not like the results, and attempt to wave them away. But they are good scientists, and report what they find.
Interesting. Its almost as if they resent masculinity because they themselves cannot compete with normal virile men in the male arena. And their allying with feminists, promotion of women and tearing down of men is their attack on virility.
And you, Larry, demand that the men of this country have their guns taken away.
That will build masculinity all right!
2432,
That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve heard in a long time. Masculinity is not related to gun ownership.
Also, I do not demand that guns be taken away. That’s a lie.
Larry, do you think it possible that the Pill is a biological factor in all this?
We have been doing two things with hormonal contraceptives, one of which is obvious and social, it makes it possible for women to have sex whenever they feel like it with whoever they feel like having it with, without any risk of pregnancy. This has had and was bound to have profound social effects on behavior.
However we have also done something biologically significant: at present almost all women in developed countries between about 15 and 50 are ingesting synthetic hormones. Quite a lot then go on HRT. This started in the 1960s but has become universal probably only in the seventies and eighties of the last century.
Its a hormonal environment which has no previous parallels in human history, and it finds its way into an environment in which farm animals are dosed with hormones also. And we know that hormones strongly affect behavior in both sexes.
I don’t know any evidence, and I seem to recall you being skeptical about hormonal issues in the past, probably on a different issue, don’t recall exactly, but what do you think in this case? Do you think the social changes you have often referred to are at least partly being caused or influenced by changes in the hormonal environment children are growing up with and that men and women are now living with?
Henrik,
The research is inconclusive about the effects of hormones in our water. I’ve published about studies on both sides. We’re the lab rats in this experiement.
But there is a certain and perhaps larger effect of the pill. Women’s hormonal cycle has been proven to affect their behavior, and esp. the type of guys they are attracted to. When pregnant (or on the pill) they want beta providers. When fertile on their natural cycle, they want alphas.
Hence the reported but never discussed stories of women going off the pill (when beginning or done with child-bearing, or switching contraceptive methods) – and being disgusted with this beta in their bed. I wonder if this is a giant factor, perhaps even an unintentional giant breeding program. This might explain much of the recent success of radical feminists: they are living with pitiful betas bred by previous generations of American women.
Just wild guessing, of course.
The female primacy is a logical byproduct of our maturation as a society. What makes female ascendance possible is the fact that men, working anonymously over many generations, have built a safe, remarkably stable world, largely free of existential threats, in which women may thrive. As long as this model persists, women will do well. Society not so much, however, as children get the short end of the deal.
Like an earlier commenter, I am underwhelmed by the capabilities of women as a group. Think of the recent naval disasters that were caused entirely by female crew members.
Women are generally competent within the normal range, and less likely than their male counterparts to make stupid, risky blunders. But you rarely see exceptional anything from a woman. For every Marie Curie, there are a fifty or a hundred Richard Feynmans. There is no female Beethoven. There isn’t even a female Leonard Bernstein.
Women are safe, steady performers, and we need those. But that particular leopard will not be able to change her spots.
If this society ever collapses, it will be interesting, in the sense of the ancient Chinese curse, to see how quickly we revert to old roles.
Scott,
The usual assumption in such discussions is that women are happy with the current situation, and that we face no existential external threats. I doubt both of those assumptions, although this takes us into the realm of wild speculation.
Women are the biggest supporters of open borders, allowing in men from cultures where feminism means “girls bringing you coffee.” The incidence of rape is skyrocketing in western europe, as so many predicted when the borders were opened to men from areas where modern women are regarded as whores. Ditto, women applaud the ghettoization of US culture – again appreciative of a culture in which women are often treated like dirt.
There might be a revealed preference here.
As for external threats, the lesson of history is that weak peoples find that threats multiply as they become weaker.
Blanket agreement here. I suspect we may unconsciously laying the groundwork for a rude awakening in the not-too-distant future.
Scott,
I wonder about the similarity of our situation to the Romans with lead. Although the effect of lead in their decline is often exaggerated, it was large. But they had little ability to see or understand it.
Of course, that is only slightly true of us. We do know about such things, so have no excuse.
Pingback: American Christianity’s Fatal Flaw: Failing to Fully Appreciate All the Ways God is Good (part 3 of 3) | theology like a child
Here in Sweden, feminists have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams and expectations. They have won the genders wars.
Gender theory is standardized and taught throughout the school system. Girls are outperforming boys in all subjects (including math and science) – and women account for nearly 70% of all university graduates. As a result, women are now taking over traditionally masculine professions such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, psychology, architecture, law, accounting, and theology. And through affirmative action and diversity quotas, even hypermasculine jobs are being feminized, e.g., the police force and the engineering sector are already around 30% female.
With the government threatening financial penalties, the number of women on corporate boards of publicly listed companies has increased to 35% – and around 15% of CEOs are women.
If we look at political sphere, the prime minister is still a male but the government proclaims itself as the “first feminist government in the world” and women make up 12 of the 22 ministers. Moreover, majority of governors, judges and prosecutors are female, and women represent 47% of the parliament and 45% of local council members.
In terms of parental leave withdrawal, men’s share has been increasing with each passing year and now stands at 29% (largely because of the introduction of “daddy months” and a never-ending public campaign to have more men stay home with the kids).
I could give many more examples of radical feminism and its repercussions, but the point is that with women having a near complete monopoly on higher education and pushing men out of the labor market (outsourcing and automation also playing a big role) – the reversal of gender roles will only gain speed in this coming decade.
adampalm,
Thank you for reporting from Sweden! In America we get little but propaganda from Sweden in the mainstream news. It’s paradise!
Those are structural changes. What has been the effects of the gender revolution on Swedish society – on its people?
