While the news media fills the air with flotsam and jetsam, powerful forces reshape America. Chief among them is rising income inequality. Like so much happening to us, it results from rational policies skillfully executed by our rulers for their benefit, not ours.
The 1%’s big success has been crushing unions, one of the strongest forces building a large middle class in America. But greed is a dangerous master.
Summary: We regard a prosperous middle class as our just due. In fact generations of union activists played a larger role in creating it.
